On June 17, 2018 a discussion among a group of ministers led to the formation of Walls of Jericho, a multifaith online group.
We are a group of clergy and religious professionals of all faiths, dedicated to discussion and intersectional action around the current administration's policies of separating immigrating families and holding children in isolation from their adult support systems.
We find such policies ethically and morally unconscionable and seek an end to both the policies themselves and to their impact in the world.
We commit to doing this work with an intersectional and anti-racist/anti-oppressive lens, in partnership and covenant with local and impacted communities. We recognize that systems of oppression have historically limited and impacted marginalized communities, and we welcome all those professionally serving a religious organization or institution, not-for-profit, or movement, with or without professional title. Parish, community, organizational, educational, and musical ministries are welcome.
We do not all share theological positions. We belong to multiple political parties. We live in different states. We do not claim to speak for our respective denominations or places of work, but only for our own hearts.
We are willing to work together across our differences to issue a shared call for justice.
United in love Working for Justice "We will shout until the walls come down."
